I just love my Ruger New Vaquero. Any of you guys have a SA revolver? You know what I mean.

I have a 1968 old model Super Blackhawk in .44mag. I enjoy just cocking it.

what is the difference between the Vaqureo and the Blackhawks?
Do you do the shooting events? Dressed up?

Vaquero has a bisely grip and non adjustable sights, while the blackhawk and super blackhawks have the standard grip and adjustable sights.
That's pretty much the difference.

I have googled before trying to see more a about the bisely vs dragoon grip. I do hit my fingers on the trigger guard of my SBH.
Vaquero has a bisely grip....
astually two (three) different frames, Davemigo.
there is the Vaquero (old frame and new) and the Bisley Vaquero.
the Bisley frame grip has a sharper, rounder handle angle.
I like my VAQUERO for the heft...and in 40 S&W cal...very economical to have fun with.

My rationale side told me to get it in something other than .45LC. But I just had to have me that cowboy load. Just too cool. Thankfully, I do not shoot it often and when I do, I don't shoot many rounds. The action required to load and shoot it keeps my round count way down compared to what happens when I head out to the gun club with my semi-autos.
Heck, I've almost convinced my wife that my SA Rueger is a money saving device!!

Wasn't the grip frame always somewhat more akin to the bisely though?
Was there/is there a version with a blackhawk style grip frame?
I've thought about a .40 revolver, how's it with loading with the clips? No different or more of a pain to deal with? never used one with the clips for a rimless.

ya got me on the bisley thing except I know a bisley when I see one. I think they are fugly.
HOWEVER...the bisley handle is preportedly more functional than a regular handle in the hands of a true revolvadero. the recoil rotates the barrel upward placing the hammer spur under the cocking thumb.

no clips with the VAQUERO in 40 S&W. the cartridge loads directly into the gate. very cool.
AMSDORF--the 45 LC is the natural choice for the VAQUERO. probably the best....if you hand load.

I make up in volume what I lose in quantity.

I have heard the bisley grips are more shooter friendly and handle recoil differently.
Cool to know no clips. I like that.
Ya, the .45 colt is a natural in any single action, particularly for cowboy action, and even more so if you stuff your own brass.
