More computer problems

For the last couple weeks, since getting rid of a couple trojans, my computer fans have been running at jet speed. Don't know the cause, can't find anything wrong or working harder than it should. The old computer is about 8 years old, but I wouldn't know what to do if I had to junk it out. Going to take it apart this weekend and fire up the air compressor and clean out the dust bunnies again. Hopefully that works or else I'm going to be sitting here with the old winders 98 machine. It's faster than the Linux box, but still has to have cords to everything instead of magically tossing waves through the atmosphere. May even have to go to China mart and spend $300 on a brand new winders box, I hate spending money!

Heat, and usage over years degrades the ram memory on any computer and it then starts using the disk to try to keep up.

Still could be a viral issue or somthing along those lines, but at 8 years old, it's time for a new one sonny.

But I just got it to the way I like it. It is every bit as fast as they were in 1995, and the HD holds a full 10 GB!

How do you test the memory?

Found Memtest, downloaded it and ran it. My RAM is shot. Just checked with Newegg, can replace the ram for $110 or buy a new box for $299 and still have my HD for a second drive. Guess it's a given, a new box will more than likely be coming home today. How does that winders 7 work? Anyone not like it?

My Linux box tested out perfect, that is the one that I would have thought was junk.

Windows 7 works well, it just has too much extra crap that most people will never use.

It runs pretty well though.

We've got 2 with 7 and 2 with XP yet.

Wow, new computer from China mart. What a POS for the money I spent. Only one AGP card slot, barley the same speed as my antique computer, and winders7 is nothing more than the crap Vista program. I think I made a mistake buying a cheap computer, but will have to live with it for now. Think I will start buying parts from Newegg and build my own, could definitely do better myself than this garbage!

Windows 7 is pretty much the same as vista without most of the issues that vista had.

We pretty much stick with Dell and HP. Decent products that really aren't too expensive.
