I remember Montgomery Wards selling shotguns in their catalogs. I know my dad ordered one and I went to pick it up with him, he still has it to this day. The lady behind the counter went to the back and brought it out in it's box, rang it up, and we walked out with a brand new Browning shotgun.

I rode my bike to Western auto before I had a DL and bought a brand new gun too, was a Marlin Glenfield Model 60 which I still have.

This thread is only for old people though, now you have to go to special places where licensed dealers are there to force you to fill out mountains of paperwork proving you are of sound mind and able to trust the government to look out for your own well being.

I haven't done it, to young as you say, but heard of banks offering guns as incentives.

"Dime" Stores, Woolworths for example use to have racks of nice long guns CHEAP. Local barber shop use to have a shelves of new guns for sale. I still have a 410 gauge shot gun I bought from "Monky Wards"

Zerk, there was a bank in the Dakotas that gave away weatherbys. This was in the 70s and it required a long term commitment and if you did the math you could make more on intrest than what the gun was worth

Ya the reason I heard about it, it was a math problem to see which was a better deal.
