For the last several years we have only had pickups and motorcycles. Since I sold the business we have gotten rid of some pickups, among them, a 4WD, which leaves us down to one 4X4 pickup. Come winter, since the wife and I each go separate directions to work, we are going to need another vehicle since the Chevy Colorado gets stuck on wet pavement. I am looking for a smaller front wheel drive car that has a lot of miles on it and doesn't even need the AC to work. Since where I work cancels if there is more than about 8 inches of snow on the ground, I will have most snow days off, the wife on the other hand has to go even if there is 2 feet that morning. What I want to know is what front wheel drive cars get around good in the snow since I am not sure I can even remember what it's like to step down into a vehicle instead of stepping up into one?
I forgot to mention, I am looking for extremely cheap!
I'm guessing all real gun people have pickups and this is a question that can't be answered here!:grumpy:

I like the Focus, but I'm looking for just something that gets driven 2,000 miles a year and sits the rest of the time. I have good trucks still for any time I'm not going to a job. I'm thinking of a $2,000 car or less.

Any front wheel drive vehicle is better than rear wheel drive in the snow.
I owned a lebaron for a while, but never saw it while owning it so.......it was front wheel drive. Bought it for $500 from a customer and it had 73,000 miles on it or some such.

I used to have to drive quite a ways for work each day. I bought a Kia Spectra used and ran the heck out of it. If I took care to drive carefully I could get around 40 mpg. I traded that car in with over 200,000 miles on it and it was still running along just fine.

Cheap ... Volkswagen jetta.. Parts are dirt cheap, great on gas and older ones can be had for less than 1k.

That's the language I speak, I hate cars, but don't want to spend the money on another 4X4. I would rather ride the bike all summer long and let a cheap car sit in the back yard than buy an expensive car and sell the bike.
