View Full Version : Nothing like an old K frame!

Sorry but I just can't stop my old love affair with old K frames. I have upgraded to L frame because it made sense for my situation and I had to put my head over my heart, but I regret robbing my own heart of the K frames that kicked off my revolver shooting days back in the 70's and LE service in 1980 through the mid 90's until the transition to semi auto. K frames are like old girl friends in the way that you kind of never forget them. The difference here with guns is that if I was smart I could of had more than one wife LOL!

You don't need more than one wife, trust me.
On the other hand, having more than one revolver is a great thing!

On a serious side note with all kidding aside, I think I owe it to my wife, and to keep the record straight about my own beliefs that I love my wife and I'll always be true to her. Guns on the other hand is something else when it comes to having multiple affairs. And BTW my wife is pro gun and shoots, just another plus that I thought is worth mentioning. Now all I've got to do is to get her to hunt with our boys and me. She's not anti hunt at all but is just not interested in hunting, but she like to see me and our boys go out and enjoy the sport. I'll take that for now!

Coach encourage your wife to sign up here and we'll get her out hunting more. It may be for you, but a hunting she will go. :eagerness:

I agree with dvm, get the wife to sign up here.

My wife isn't for the hunt either, and there just aren't enough women here for her. But she shoots the hell out of inventory!

I have a great model 19 on layaway. I am going to pick her up the first part of April. I can't wait!

For the most part, I am not talking to any of my Xs. I got two L frames, which I bought when I started buying handguns. I'd like to find a used .38, which might be a K. I don't know all the old models, or all the new either.

I think the K frame is the absolute ideal for a 38. I love shooting my model 10. My 64 is very sweet to shoot too but my 67 still has the small grips on it. I need to change them.

I agree.....this is quite possibly the smoothest shooting gun I own.

Love those K's! My current house handgun (supplementing a side-by-side double 12 gauge sawed to 20 inches) is a 1966 10-5 with the pencil barrel. Bought it used in mechanically great condition. The previous owner had had it professionally coated--Robar, maybe? I thought it would be good for carry in rough conditions, but now I'm too old and beat up to get out in rough conditions anymore.

The sweetest revolver OR pistol I've ever owned was a beautiful Model 15-8 built in 1970, which I bought unfired ten years ago. My son and his boys are enjoying it now.

Only fired mine a few times. It is light gun, and you get a 4" sight picture. Easier to shoot then a snubby. At that weight, it could become a carry gun. I may try finding a newer one that takes +P. Though I a couple +ps probably wouldn't hurt an old one, I am guessing, if you needed it.

Easy to work on and lots of resources.

J's, K's L's.....whatinhell y'all talkin' bout?

Geez, alphabet soup is a thing of the past. Today we talk about compacts, subcompacts, full size and them damn monster eagles. :)

But, I do enjoy some shooting with a good K sized revolver, whoever makes it. LOL!

Isn't the Model 10 the revolver they use at the beginning of the Superman TV series of the 50s?
"Faster than a speeding bullet!" was fired from it (I think)

I've always had an interest in getting one of those mostly because there were so iconic.

I ripped a couple frames off the opening of a Superman episode and was wondering if anyone can identify the exact model of revolver this is. This is the "Faster than a speeding bullet" part of the opening.

I'm no Smith expert, but it sure could be a Model 10.

In 1950s it may have still been a M&P, which became the model 10.
