Living in the middle of Nebraska has it's advantages, my nearest neighbor is a half mile away, we are the only house on the whole section, and there are a lot of critters that just make their way onto the property.
We have had red foxes living here, didn't shoot them as they were not a problem to us, and as soon as they were big enough, they left on their own.
Skunks are a common problem, they are not allowed here since we had a dog that seemed to enjoy playing with them. We use anything handy from a .22 to a 12 gauge on them. I have been seen chasing one out of the yard in my underwear with an SKS and a 30 round mag.
Possum are also not welcomed here, they carry disease that is fatal to horses and since we have four of them living here, the possum must go. There again, we use the first gun we grab or have strapped on.
Coyotes get shot at with 9mm, .357, mini 14, or 12 gauge.
